Origin Story
From Fleece and Furry Puppets to Custom Silicone Animatronic Creature FX and even DJ Helmets, We cover it all!
In 2010 we began our journey by building a couple of furry monster puppets for our 2 year old daughter Luna. That new experience became an obsession, Luna would design characters and we would build them for her. The next year we opened our first shop and Luna’s Puppets was born.
Luna’s Puppets is owned and ran by Raiden Gorby, with a background in a Aerospace Machining and mechanical engineering the next step to puppet building was obvious. This background has allowed us to take traditional hand puppets to boss level and extend our services into Animatronic Creature FX, Prop Building, LED DJ Helmets and Prosthetics!
CUSTOM PUPPETS
Our main shop focus has always been on puppets, whether the build is for a TV Series, Commercial, Film, Youtube Channel or Live Performance, we’ve done it all and know that each application requires special consideration of how the puppet is built and will be operated. ANIMATRONICS
Animatronics have been moving in leaps and bounds so it’s only right that puppets get to share in these advancement. From simple head and eye analog movements to advanced speech mimicking mouth animatronics, we are always pushing ourselves to reach that next level. One of our jobs that we took on in 2020 set us out to create compact animatronic head and mouth units that fit inside of the main character “Waffles” on the netflix series “Waffles + Mochi” and moved in all of the ways a human hand moves, this would allow the puppet to be puppeteered in many of the scenes that were too tight to fit a puppeteer in.
Silicone Ultra Realism
Silicone is a amazing material and allows movements and durability that no other material can come close to. Unlike Latex there’s no decay or rot over time and the tear strength is unmatched. We’ve created a wide spectrum of pieces ranging from Popeye Arm sleeves and Muscle Arm Appliances to Miniature Alien Puppets and Animatronic head with punched hair.
One of our piece that was widely aired was the Mr. Peanut in the 2020 Planters holiday commercials. Bent Images reached out to us to sculpt, mold, cast and paint the Stop Motion Mr. Peanut. His boots, legs, arms and hands were all cast in silicone rubber with imbedded wire and ball joint armature.
